Tae-hyung Kim is a Senior Analyst with Pyramid Research’s Asia Pacific Regional Team. He is based out of Pyramid’s Asia office in Hong Kong. As a member of Pyramid’s Asia Pacific Group, Tae is responsible for conducting research and analysis of Northeast and Southeast Asian markets. Tae contributes to a variety of syndicated and custom projects including Pyramid Insiders, Pyramid Country Intelligence Reports and Pyramid Research Fixed and Mobile Communications Forecasts.
Tae’s work focuses on emerging technologies in Asia, with a focus on the markets of Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia. Tae has worked on a number of consulting engagements for clients including:
- assisting a company in Thailand negotiate more favorable regulations around number portability by benchmarking results in a number of different Asia Pacific and emerging markets
- assisting a Japanese financial services firm identify opportunities for broadband wireless deployment in developing Asian markets including India, Vietnam, Thailand, among others
- assist a vendor in identifying the opportunity for broadband and Internet adoption among enterprise customers in Vietnam
Prior to joining Pyramid Research, Tae had served as a Sergeant at the Combined Forces Command / United Nations Command in Seoul, coordinating operations between ROK and US forces.
Tae graduated from Middlebury College cum laude with Honors, where he was a Charles A. Dana Scholar. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies with a focus on Economics and China. He is bilingual in Korean and English and is proficient in Mandarin and Japanese. He enjoys traveling, reading, dancing and playing golf.
