Project Scope:

Microsoft and the GSMA engaged Pyramid Research to conduct an ambitious, in-depth study of the subscription computing opportunity worldwide. An analysis was needed of PC buyer demand for Mobile Broadband and end-user preferences for device size, hardware specifications, services, PC usage and data network usage. The clients aimed to identify the total addressable market for mobile broadband PCs.

Project milestones:

Pyramid’s team completed the following actions:

  • Developed surveys of over 16,000 users in 17 developed and emerging countries
  • Conducted primary research interviews with telcos, cableco and mobilecos
  • Conducted over 200 field trials
  • Applied detailed country-level, quantitative forecasts for 46 countries
  • Conducted international benchmarking and qualitative review

Results:

By identifying drivers and inhibitors for the SCP model from the service provider perspective and providing key analysis on the opportunity mapping and best practices, Pyramid was able to help Microsoft and the GSMA effectively plan its budget and develop go-to-market strategies.

Analysis on the competitive landscape, and market gap and end user preferences

Project Scope:

A leading handset vendor commissioned Pyramid to analyze content usage over mobile devices and the competitive landscape in this area of the Mexican market. Analysis on market gap and end user preferences was needed.

Project milestones:
