Boston, Massachusetts- January 7, 2013- Total cloud revenue in South Africa is expected to more than triple from around $72 million in 2011 to $245 million in 2017, with the majority of cloud revenue driven by the large enterprise and public sector segments, according to the report South Africa Telecom Market Forecast.

South Africa Telecom Market Forecast analyzes the South African telecom market in detail, highlighting several key areas of growth now that traditional voice services revenue is flattening. The report focuses on three main areas of growth – mobile apps, enterprise cloud services and mobile advertising – and their influence on the South African market.

“Sophisticated IT departments understand how to take advantage of new cloud services, such as those offering additional computing power to address peak usage of hardware resources, which offers a compelling return on investment,” says Pyramid Research Analyst at Large, Jan ten Sythoff. Similarly processes requiring non-permanent IT resources, such as test and development, are also shifting to cloud provision demonstrating attractive rates of return.  Systems integrators dominate the cloud and data center markets because they can understand the complex requirements of large businesses such as banks and the public sector. These entities are focused on large projects that require specialty skills, partnerships and capabilities, he notes.

South Africa Telecom Market Forecast is part of Pyramid’s thematic report series, and is priced at $3,495. Download an excerpt or purchase the report here. For more information, contact Jarka Justova (for those in EMEA or Asia-Pacific) or Juan Gobbi (for those in Latin America or North America).
