Boston, Massachusetts- February 25, 2013- Increased competition will drive Tunisia’s market through 2017 as operators focus on upgrading their networks and delving further into the fixed market, according to a new report from Pyramid Research.

“Orange Tunisie’s entry in 2010 significantly altered the competitive dynamics of Tunisia’s telecommunications services market, effectively ending the mobile duopoly and fixed monopoly that previously characterized the competitive landscape in the country,” says Pyramid Research Associate Analyst, Olena Kaplan. Two years after launching, Orange Tunisie saw its share of total telecommunications service revenue reach 10 percent, largely on the strength of its first-to-market 3G advantage and strong branding and service offering. Following Tunisiana’s 2012 launch of 3G services, stronger competition is expected in the mobile segment, with all operators actively investing in network development. Mobile operators will also delve further into the fixed market and increase the level of competition, as we expect Tunisiana to follow Orange Tunisie&38217;s example and start offering fixed services in 2013, albeit at a limited capacity, she notes.

Tunisia: Operators Leverage Fixed and Data Services to Stabilize Total Market Revenue is part of Pyramid Research’s Africa and the Middle East Intelligence Report Series and is priced at $990.
