The bundle offer “Explora” is available in Lima and areas such as Miraflores, San Isidro, San Miguel, La Molina, Santa Anita, San Borja, and Los Olivos. “Explora” is a differentiated value proposition mainly targeting the business segment and the high-end of the residential market. Pro-Inversion is primarily in charge of the auction process of concessions and spectrum for the telecom sector in Peru.  However, Pro-Inversion is not exclusively established for the telecom industry, as it is also responsible for national and foreign investments in other Peruvian sectors.  Read More...

Higher WiMAX Price Points in Emerging Markets
March 9, 2007 - The PMP (price per MHz per population) for WiMAX spectrum has been highest in countries in the Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe. Average PMP was next highest in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE): Approximately US$0.04. This is in contrast to average PMP in Western Europe: Close to US$0.01. We believe the higher relative price points are due to WiMAX’s stronger competitive position, thanks to limited 3G deployments, a lack of 3G licenses, and low broadband penetration. WiMAX as a low-cost solution for connecting rural areas is also increasing demand for its spectrum.   Read More...

Hosted Solutions Can Reduce Mobile Capex by 12% in Latin America
February 23, 2007 - By our estimates, Latin American mobile operators will spend a total of US$93m on hosted services in 2007. Hosted services are expected to represent only 9% of the region’s investments in end-user service delivery solutions, including end-user services access platforms, service delivery solutions, and charging and payment solutions. Nonetheless, hosting is expected to deliver savings of 12% in Capex. Indeed, the key attraction to hosted solutions is the promise of lower Capex. Operators face a conundrum, however: hosted services increase Opex—another area where they are looking for efficiencies, and hence, to-date, investments have been limited.  Purchase Subscription
