The Tunisian telecom market generated almost $1.7bn in service revenue in 2010, a decrease from the previous year. We expect the market to expand at a slow pace to $1.8bn in 2011, and reach $2.0bn in 2016. This will represent a CAGR of 3% for total market revenue. Among significant market segments, the fastest growing will be broadband Internet and mobile data.Mobile and fixed voice, although declining slowly, will remain important in the overall Tunisian telecommunications market. Mobile voice service should account for nearly 63% of all telecom revenue in 2011, but the subsector’s share is expected to fall to just under 55% by 2016. In absolute terms we expect it to remain relatively steady with a 2.0% CAGR. Fixed voice, meanwhile, will contract at a faster rate of -2% from 2011 to 2016. The combined revenue from voice services will account for about 70% of the total telecom market in 2016.Broadband services will be a source of growth over the next five years, with a CAGR of 4% between 2011 and 2016, producing estimated revenue of $132m in 2016, up from $91m in 2010. This growth will help compensate for the decline in narrowband Internet services, which will generate just $4m in revenue in 2016.
