EVENT SPOTLIGHT
In June 2008, Yahoo launched local platforms in four Latin American countries (Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela) adding to the existing platforms in Mexico and Argentina. These platforms aim to attract more traffic to Yahoo’s website, leverage the solid user base in Latin America and combat Google’s dominance in the search arena. Pyramid Research believes that these new operations will help the company improve its presence in the region and thus capitalize on the growing Latin American data and Internet market, which we estimate will reach $13.7bn in 2013 from $5.8bn in 2007.
